BIOGRAPHY
Parks Stephenson is a historian, documentarian and explorer for Zocon Entertainment. A 1979 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and career Naval Flight Officer, he has served aboard submarines, aircraft carriers and amphibious ships, ultimately commanding a multi-service Air Control detachment in Kuwait during Iraq’s second attempted invasion of Kuwait. After retiring from the Navy, Commander Stephenson joined the defense contracting industry as a naval systems engineer -- first with Hughes Aircraft, then Raytheon, lately with Lockheed Martin -- building combat systems for naval ships and, more recently, integrated command-and-control systems for national defense. Parks was employed in 2001 by filmmaker James Cameron as a technical advisor for his IMAX documentary, "Ghosts of the Abyss." Parks also contributed text and computer-generated 3D models to the film's companion book. Cameron brought him back in 2005 for the Discovery Channel/Earthship Productions-sponsored "Last Mysteries of the Titanic" expedition, where Parks fine-tuned the use of CG models as forensic tools in the continuing exploration of the wreck's interior. In 2013, Parks co-authored and illustrated a book with James Cameron about Cameron’s Titanic expeditions.

Parks has also been a technical/historical advisor for a number of production companies covering a wide range of historical topics ranging from Titanic to World War 2. He has been featured in films made for Walt Disney Pictures, History Channel, Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, PBS (NOVA), Channel 4 Television (UK) and NHK (Japan). He acted as field producer for the History Channel during the 2010 RMST/WHOI Titanic Expedition, the first to fully map the entire wreck site.

Parks’ specialty is historic research and forensic re-construction, specializing in military and maritime areas where he can apply his personal experience. He has a passion for debunking popular myths by uncovering hard evidence and presenting it in the proper historic context. Parks has been to the Titanic wreck site 3 times (personally diving on the wreck in 2005), the Britannic wreck 2 times, and was the lead investigator for a U.S.-Japanese team that found and identified a Japanese midget submarine from the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack that had eluded dedicated searchers, including famed explorer Bob Ballard, for 68 years. Wherever there is a historic mystery, Parks is determined to solve it.

In addition to a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Science from the U.S. Naval Academy, Parks holds a Masters in Political Science degree from Auburn University. Parks is married to Tamara and has two children.
